Approach
We we’re trusted by Army to create a short video to respectfully acknowledge this moment, preserving the legacy of the past, recognising what it means to serve today and inspiring a new generation of service.
We formed connections with some of Australia’s most respected institutions, including the Australian War Memorial, the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, and the University of New South Wales, unlocking access to thousands of preserved artefacts rich with historical insight.
We scoured diary entries, letters, videos, interviews, paintings and photographs to uncover common threads across 120 years of service. Recurring accounts of harrowing violence, formidable resilience and profound compassion emerged, and these three themes formed the basis of a nuanced narrative.
We mapped this research onto a timeline, identifying key sub-narratives to support the overarching themes, and developed a poignant script for the Chief of Army to narrate.
We brought preserved history to life through video, animation and sound design, carefully stitching together over 100 artefacts to form a single video.
Impact
The video has become one of Defence’s most requested products. It was repurposed to mark Remembrance Day in 2024 across Defence’s social platforms, generating 5.8K views on YouTube and over 10,000 views on Facebook. Beyond its initial screening at Land Forces, the video has endured as a lasting product used by the Australian Army.
More of our client stories
Simplifying complex Defence capability processes through edgy animation
Policy is typically dry, detailed and lengthy. To ensure capability managers could quickly understand the changes, we needed to help our client deliver engaging bite-sized content without diluting accuracy.
Activating the ACT cyber ecosystem through a targeted, multi-channel campaign
While the Cyber Hub Directory is designed to be the central platform for discovering ACT-based cyber capability, not all businesses were represented, and many listings were outdated.
Brand spanking new! Building a bold brand for ACTivate Capital
Venture capital is a cluttered market, and brands tend to stick to a few norms: if it’s not an abstract image of “tech,” it’s a picture of a skyscraper. But this wasn’t going to work for ACTivate Capital.
